The Journey - The Future

Here are some of my goals for both the business and my personal development. Most of these, especially the staff related ones, are already underway. The goal is to develop a work environment where everyone involved wants to achieve ‘our’ goals.

The Forbidden Fruit 3 Year Business Goals

  1. To be a dynamic, trendsetting business. To find the best trends and to be the best in our business.
  2. To have tools in place for staff incentives.
  3. Send staff to seminars and training so that they can constantly learn more and pass information back to everyone else.
  4. To have a balanced work and personal life for all the staff and myself.
  5. Have a quality standard implemented. Professionalism.
  6. Focus of business on ‘getting the job done’ not on making money.
  7. Safe workplace practices implemented and adhered to.
  8. Highly knowledgeable staff. This is so that they can provide suggestions to improve ‘shopping pleasure’ for customers, such as recipes.
  9. To have a fun workplace. For the business to be known as ‘the best place to work’.
  10. To have a core of fantastic people never wanting to leave, whilst also having a queue of other great people knocking on our door.
  11. To have myself as the head of our own Business Improvement Program.
  12. To focus on assisting community issues, eg fundraisers for a new playground or skate park.
  13. To constantly be supporting and sponsoring our staff in community sporting events.
  14. To maintain a stress free workplace and office with efficient and effective staff.
  15. To personally improve myself to become a better listener and judge of other people.
  16. Make our customers feel ‘blown away’ by crossing paths with our business. To service and satisfy our customers needs so that they feel they have had ‘the ultimate experience’ in shopping.
  17. Know our products and identify our markets, as well as strive for new markets.
  18. To have time for people.
  19. Have a system in place so all staff have a naturally tremendous work rate without realizing it and their lives aren’t flying by because they are too busy.
  20. Help staff achieve their goals. I would like to help my staff not only set and achieve goals, but to also pursue their dreams.
  21. Develop a workplace where systems are in place so staff don’t need to talk too much or ask too many questions about work because they know the answers. This would create an environment where they can spend more time interacting socially during work and still get the job done. The result of this would be a closer bond between staff.
  22. To make the workplace totally efficient. Don’t waste a single step.
  23. Plenty of holidays and time off. Lots of fun for the staff and myself.
  24. To be a self-sufficient workplace. For the business not to rely on me.
  25. Expand shop to cater for increased demand without taking away from the appeal.
  26. Continue with the wholesome and caring workplace.
  27. Create a website, perhaps including home delivery.
