The shop is located at the Stratham Downs Roadhouse, some 18 km south of Bunbury on the Bussell Hwy at a location called Statham. Stratham is so small it doesn’t even have it own postcode so we have to borrow neighbouring Boyanup’s. There is no indication of any significant number of houses around the shop area, so it amazes people where all our customers come from. I always had a goal to create a mystical place with people asking how we stocked such an amazing array of fruit and vegetables in this location in the middle of nowhere. From the beginning I have wanted to stock all the more exciting gourmet lines of fruit and vegetables because we are in such a seemingly remote setting, and I wanted to surprise people. Actually one of my goals has always been to pick a particular fruit or vegetable product that I have never been able to sell and get the shop busy enough to be able to sell it on a regular basis. We have achieved that with many items such as Rhubarb, Artichokes, Spaghetti Squash and fresh Dates. Thus my most current goal is to be able to sell a gourmet cabbage called “Okra”.
We are ten minutes by car out of town, on a very busy road between Bunbury and Capel. Many people have come to us and said ‘I wish you were in town’, but what we think is that people come this far specifically to get our produce, we are that good!
