What we have over our competitors...
We are the best!!! Not only in fruit and vegetable quality but freshness, presentation, service, price, everything!! We will literally do anything to help our customers, from carrying their boxes, to packaging up their purchases so they can take them overseas, to counting how many spuds are in a twenty-kilo bag. Heck, we will even empty their purses for them!!
Every year more people realise this and come in to The Forbidden Fruit. Christmas is our busiest time, every year we think that we can’t possibly get any bigger or busier, but we do!! We have no idea when or where it will stop, but it certainly isn’t showing any sign of doing so.
Not only do we have the best quality, but we also carry a wide range of produce to suit every kind of customer and everybody’s budget. Our stock ranges from top quality but reasonably priced produce, to cheap bulk quantities, to produce that tastes great but may be different to what other shops stock, but is also what people want, such as small apples in two kg bags. They may be small but they are perfect for families with kids for lunch boxes. We try to cater to all markets, and are constantly trying to find ways to attract markets that we feel we don’t have a full grasp of yet. We have specials on basics like spuds and carrots, to gourmet vegies like asparagus and bok choy and pak choy, as well as traditionally expensive lines such as cherries and dates. We also stock local produce, not only do we like to have them in order to support these industries, but simply because customers want them. We make sure we have them. Because of the wide range of produce we carry, our market is very broad, but we do aim certain aspects at ‘Mothers’. Our recipes appeal to Mum s because they help to make vegetables appetising to kids (although we are still working at a way of making Brussels sprouts appealing!). We also make the effort with little things, like playing a Beatles CD, and the next thing we know all the customers in the shop are singing along.
